Tips

  • Visiting the Reichstag dome is free, but you have to book online days in advance.

  • Shops are closed on Sundays. Validate your transport ticket before boarding: the inspectors are in plain clothes and the fine is €60.

Frequently asked questions

Are shops open on Sundays in Berlin?

No, almost all shops and supermarkets are closed. Restaurants, museums, the Sunday markets (like the one in Mauerpark) and the shops in the big stations stay open.

How much money do you need per day in Berlin?

Excluding the flight and accommodation, plan on €45-70 a day. Berlin is cheaper than Munich or Frankfurt, and much of its history can be seen for free in the streets.

What documents do I need?

Germany is in the Schengen area. Albanian citizens with a biometric passport enter without a visa, for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your return date. Biometric data is recorded at the border (the EES system), and the ETIAS online authorisation is expected to become mandatory: check before you leave whether it has come into force.
